Best in Texas: COVID-19 Coverage Contest

We are introducing a special edition of the TAJE Best in Texas contest to recognize the outstanding student journalism out there.

Submit coverage produced between Feb. 15 and May 15 for your student media. Advisers must be members of TAJE.

The categories are:

  • Social media coverage: Five screenshots of your social media’s COVID-19 coverage from any platform

  • Objective coverage: news, feature, sports coverage, from any medium

  • Subjective coverage: opinion coverage, from any medium

  • Multimedia: coverage that blends multiple storytelling elements

  • Welcome distraction: Fun coverage that doesn’t focus on COVID-19 and is meant to help keep the readers’ minds off what’s going on for a few moments

To submit entries, send an email to contests@taje.org with the student(s) name(s), school and a URL, a PDF (for print media) or screenshots (for social media).

Just like the traditional Best in Texas contest, we’ll recognize Superior, Excellent and Honorable Mention recipients. A Best of the Best will also be awarded in each category. Each entry will be shared on TAJE’s social media, and participating schools will receive badges that can be posted on social media, the web, a school website … wherever you would like to share it.
