Why is journalism important?
Without good journalism, power can go completely unchecked. Good journalism holds people accountable and tells the truth about society. Good journalism should also give a voice and a spotlight to people who may go unnoticed and offer a safe space to tell their stories.
What’s the biggest struggle you’ve had to overcome as a teacher?
Adapting to three different schools and learning how to teach and develop content for several different classes throughout my career (English III, English IV, Creative Writing, Digital Media, Photojournalism, Journalism 1, Yearbook and Newspaper)
Who are your biggest influencers as a teacher?
I look up to all of the advisers in my district (Cy-Fair ISD) and feel like we truly are a family. We rely on each other for advice and help throughout the year.
